The vocabulary
Plain-language definitions for the terms that come up around software tooling — written to be quoted.
Answer engine optimisation
Structuring content so AI assistants and answer engines can quote it accurately. In practice it means leading with a direct definition, using clean headings, adding structured data, and publishing machine-readable summaries such as llms.txt.
Directory backlink
A link to your product from a curated directory listing. Because the listing page is indexed and topically related to your product, the link passes both referral traffic and search authority — unlike a link from an unrelated or user-generated page.
Do-follow link
A hyperlink that search engines are allowed to follow and count toward the destination’s ranking. It is simply a link without a rel="nofollow" or rel="sponsored" attribute, so authority flows through it.
Freemium
A pricing model where the core product is free indefinitely and revenue comes from paid upgrades. It differs from a free trial, which grants temporary access to paid features and then expires.
Launch page
A shareable page created for a product’s public debut, built to be posted to social feeds and communities. It carries the pitch, a link to the product, and social proof in one place.
Purchasing power parity pricing
Adjusting prices by country so the cost feels comparable relative to local incomes. A product priced at $49 in the United States might be sold for a lower local amount in a market where that sum represents far more purchasing power.
Structured data
Machine-readable markup — usually JSON-LD following schema.org — that tells search engines what a page represents. It powers rich results such as FAQ accordions, ratings and breadcrumbs.
